How to Apply an Estradiol Patch

Do not apply the patch to or near the breasts.

  1. 1PrepareWash and dry your hands. Choose clean, completely dry skin. Do not use lotion, oil, powder, or cream where the patch will go.
  2. 2Choose the SiteApply to the lower abdomen or upper buttock. Avoid irritated, broken, or folded skin and areas where tight clothing may rub.
  3. 3Apply the PatchOpen the pouch and remove the protective liner without touching the sticky side more than necessary. Place the adhesive side flat on the skin.
  4. 4Press for 10 SecondsPress the patch firmly with the palm of your hand for about 10 seconds. Smooth the edges and confirm the entire patch is attached.
  5. 5Replace + RotateReplace it with a new patch on the same day each week. Rotate sites and wait at least one week before using the same spot again.

Remember

Check the patch daily to be sure it is secure. Follow your pharmacy instructions if it loosens or falls off. Fold used patches sticky sides together and discard safely away from children and pets.
